What Tesla owners should consider before renting out their car
Making your Tesla available to a monthly renter can put an unused car to work, but it brings responsibilities. Think through these points before you commit to anything.

Insurance
Personal auto policies frequently exclude renting your car to others. Ask your insurer how your policy treats it and what coverage a rental arrangement would require.
Loan, lease and title
Financing and lease agreements may restrict renting the car out. Check your contract, or ask your lender, before making the car available.
Wear, mileage and value
A month of someone else’s driving adds miles and wear. Decide how many miles you are comfortable with and how condition will be checked at handover and return.
App access and features
Consider how you would give access — a key card, or additional-driver access in the Tesla app — and whether features such as Premium Connectivity or FSD (Supervised) would remain active. Report what the car actually has; we treat owner reports as unverified until checked.
Income and taxes
Rental income may be taxable and may involve costs. There is no guaranteed income from TeslaRent.App; any payout would be agreed in writing.
How an owner inquiry works
Submitting your Tesla does not automatically list the vehicle or create a rental agreement. We review fit, discuss terms, and require eligibility checks and a separate written agreement first. Learn about renting out your Tesla.
